To ensure that telescopes and other optical elements and systems will operate properly on a space mission, MSFC has several facilities to characterize and calibrate optics in both earth and space environments. Optics at Marshall can evaluate material properties, verify figure and surface finish, and determine overall performance of conventional size and large aperture optics.
